As Singapore celebrates its 60th year of independence, Raffles Place Alliance (RPA) is bringing meaningful community engagement to the heart of the city with two signature initiatives: #RPchairs and Unwind @ Raffles Place.
Formed under the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Business Improvement District (BID) programme, RPA has been transforming the Central Business District since 2019 through placemaking efforts that blend community, commerce, and culture.
#RPchairs: 60 New Ways to Pause and Connect
Now in its fourth edition, #RPchairs returns with a special SG60 celebration. A total of 60 uniquely customised chairs have been introduced on the Raffles Place lawn, creating a colourful and welcoming public space. This initiative invites workers, residents, and visitors alike to take a moment to pause, relax, and reconnect in the city’s busiest district.
Each chair is designed to reflect the vibrant diversity of Singapore and the spirit of RPA’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and engaging urban environment.
Unwind @ Raffles Place: 13 August 2025
Taking place the week after National Day, Unwind @ Raffles Place promises an afternoon and evening of free public entertainment and communal activities. Set for 13 August, the event features:
-
Live music and open-air film screenings
-
Interactive games like cornhole, chip-and-putt, and street chess
-
Friendly matches hosted by the Aliwal Chess Club
-
A relaxed space to socialise with colleagues, friends, and family
This event provides the perfect way to extend the National Day spirit, offering moments of joy, connection, and shared experience in the CBD.
A Reimagined Urban Destination
With these initiatives, Raffles Place Alliance continues to lead the charge in redefining the city centre — not just as a financial hub, but as a place for people. Through thoughtful placemaking, RPA reinforces its vision of Raffles Place as a destination where community life thrives alongside commerce and culture.
