Tan Ser Seng Herbal Soup Opens @ Great World with Traditional Double-Boiled Soups from $15

80-Year-Old Heritage Brand Tan Ser Seng Herbal Soup Opens 2nd Outlet @ Great World

After 80 years of serving traditional Chinese herbal soups in Singapore, Tan Ser Seng Herbal Soup (陳生成) has opened its second outlet at Great World, marking its first expansion beyond its iconic Geylang restaurant. Founded in 1946, the homegrown heritage brand has been serving comforting, nourishing herbal soups for generations.

Traditional Herbal Soups Slow-Simmered for Over 12 Hours

What makes Tan Ser Seng Herbal Soup special is its dedication to traditional cooking methods. Preparations begin as early as 3am daily, using more than 20 types of Chinese herbs to create deeply flavoured broths.

Each broth is slow-simmered for over 12 hours, while the soups undergo at least two hours of double-boiling to bring out their rich, comforting flavours.

One of the must-tries is the Ginseng Black Chicken Soup ($15), a signature dish developed by the second generation. Each serving comes with tender black silkie chicken, Chinese herbs and a whole ginseng root.

Another popular choice is the Cordyceps Flower Sakura Chicken Soup ($15), prepared with free-range Sakura Chicken and aromatic Chinese herbs.

For those looking to experience a true heritage speciality, the Double Boiled Turtle Soup ($16) has been part of the brand's offerings since 1946. Made with freshwater softshell turtle, Chinese herbs and a touch of the family's own herbal wine, this traditional soup remains one of its most distinctive dishes.

Homestyle Dishes to Complement the Soups

Besides herbal soups, diners can also enjoy a selection of comforting homestyle dishes.

The Jade Tofu ($10.90) is freshly prepared daily using pressed soy milk, resulting in a delicate and silky texture.

For something different, try the Persimmon Sweet & Sour Pork ($14.90), a dish inspired by the brand's founder. It combines crispy pork with dried persimmon and a tangy yuzu sweet-and-sour sauce for a refreshing twist on a familiar favourite.

Complimentary TCM Pulse Readings for the Opening

To celebrate its Great World opening, Tan Ser Seng Herbal Soup has partnered with Liang Yi TCM to offer complimentary pulse readings and personalised herbal soup recommendations during the outlet's first month of operations.

This special opening initiative brings together Traditional Chinese Medicine and the brand's longstanding tradition of herbal nourishment, giving diners an opportunity to discover soups suited to their individual needs.
