Dining Deal: Shin Katsu's 1-for-1 Premium Japanese Tonkatsu Promotion

Japanese tonkatsu specialist Shin Katsu is introducing a new premium pork experience as Singapore’s first and only tonkatsu restaurant to serve premium Hokkaido pork from Hirata Farm.

Known for its longstanding farming heritage and meticulous rearing practices, Hirata Farm's signature Sangenton pork, prized for its fine texture, rich marbling and delicate, melt-in-the-mouth  fat, takes centre stage in two new offerings: the Hirata Rosu Katsu Set (S$36.80) and  Hirata Hire Katsu Set (S$37.80).

1-For-1 Promotion

To celebrate the launch, Shin Katsu is offering a 1-for-1 promotion on the Hirata Rosu Katsu Set every Mondays from November to December 2026, giving diners an opportunity to discover the distinctive qualities of this premium Japanese pork at exceptional value.

The Craft Behind Hirata Farm Pork

With roots dating back to 1953 in Japan's Yamagata Prefecture, Hirata Farm has grown from a small farming operation with just two pigs into an established Japanese pork producer. The farm is also recognised for pioneering the branding of Sangenton, a threeway crossbreed pork developed by combining three different pig breeds to bring together desirable qualities in meat production, flavour and texture.

While pigs in conventional farming are typically raised for 150 to 180 days, Hirata Farm’s pigs are reared for 200 to 240 days in open-style barns to move freely. Their carefully managed diet includes plant-based, non-GMO feed, reflecting the farm's considered approach to pork production. The result is pork distinguished by its fine muscle fibres, tender texture, and generous marbling. With a higher fat content and lower fat melting point than conventional pork, Sangenton delivers a juicy, rich bite, complemented by delicate fat that melts easily in the mouth.

Two Distinct Cuts, Two Ways To Enjoy Hirata Farm Pork

At Shin Katsu, diners can experience Hirata Farm’s Sangenton pork through two classic tonkatsu cuts, each offering a different balance of lean meat and fat.

The Hirata Rosu Katsu Set ($36.80) features pork loin, a cut prized for its balance of lean meat and fat. Its rich marbling lends the cut a juicy, satisfying bite, allowing diners to appreciate the pork’s natural flavour and melt-in-the-mouth fat.

For those who prefer a leaner cut, the Hirata Hire Katsu Set ($37.80) showcases pork tenderloin, known for its delicate texture and tenderness. With its finer muscle fibres, the cut offers a softer, more delicate bite while retaining the natural flavour of Sangenton pork.

Both cuts are prepared using Chef Matsubayashi Masato's signature tonkatsu technique, featuring a bespoke panko breading method that creates a light, crisp exterior while retaining the pork's natural juiciness. Each set is also paired with a specialty salt, allowing diners to appreciate the natural flavours of the pork.
